It’s Not About the Stamps

Last week was kind of a big deal for me, I hit 1/2 million dollars in career sales as a Stampin’Up! demonstrator!

I had lots of sweet congratulatory messages from my team, my fellow demos and friends. It meant a lot to me.

 

I have never really had active upline support. It’s not something I begrudge, it’s just the way it is. I like to think I’ve done alright ;)

 

And then this showed up in the mail:

a congratulations card from my dear friend Janet Wakeland who graciously took me under her wing 16 years ago when I was a new demo. Our friendship has continued to grow and I now have a little more to offer

and you know what? I cried.

 

This past weekend demonstrators from all over the country gathered to gather to honor a sweet demonstrator who passed way earlier this year. Here is a pic of some of my favorite folks enjoying the day and time together.

I have always known it, but this weekend brought it home for me:

This will never be about stamps.

It will always be about people.

 

There are a lot of really good people that I get to work with.

And when I show up and do the work I am suppose to do I get to add to all that positive energy.

 

YOU all make me better

My goal everyday is to help make us all better

 

It’s not about the stamps

It is about how we show up for each other

Did you miss Gathering for Greatness? Read on!!

I am still in Phoenix working in my hotel room before I head out to grab my plane back to Wisconsin early this afternoon.  We wrapped up the Gathering for Greatness event yesterday afternoon and I thought you might like a little sneak of all that went on and was shared.

 

We kicked off Friday night with an introduction of our guest presenters, a training from me on what it takes to be more focused and productive in our businesses, followed by our Sip and Swap. We had yummy food, drinks, swapped awesome cards, and chatted. It was the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy each other.

 

Saturday and Sunday were jam packed with trainings from some amazing demonstrators:

• Julie Salva kicked off each morning by sharing heartfelt and inspirational devotionals that made us smile, laugh, and feel the joy that comes from knowing God loves us.

• Georgia Giguere shared the tips and secrets of her Traditional, in person Stampin’Up! business. It was the perfect reassurance and inspiration that you can create an awesome successful business stamping with people and sharing the opportunity face to face.

• Lydia Fiedler inspired us all to pay attention to the Dollars and Sense of our businesses. She graciously shared the events she offers and how she generates PROFIT: both thru fees and product sales.

• Brian King entertained us all while sharing how he transitioned his traditional business to an on line model, along with great tips on technology and social media

• Mary Fish graciously shared the language, marketing and focus we can embrace to make recruiting easy and fun…..and then how to keep those new community members engaged and active.

• Brian and Nicole Watt from Integrant Services talked blogging technology, how to get more folks reading your blog and answered about a bajillion questions we all had about the technical side of sharing our passion with people virtually. 

 

We closed out the event with a discussion of kits, shared our inspiration and take aways, along with our commitments on what we will ACT ON in our businesses.

 

We laughed (A LOT), we were open, vulnerable, sharing….maybe a few tears.

We learned and were inspired by not only the presenters, but by our old and new friends who brought the life and love to the event.

 

I am ready to head home. I miss my people :)

But I am equally excited to prepare for my Salt Lake City training in April, read more here, and to finish up the Power Points and PDFs to be able to share this weekend’s trainings with those who couldn’t join us live.

The One Board You are Missing on Pinterest

One of the biggest groups of folks using Pinterest on a regular basis are those who love to DIY.
From how to apply the perfect smokey eye to how to re-tile your bathroom, Pinterest is dominated by all those great “how-tos”….and they are notorious for sucking you in and keeping you there for hours!

To fully take advantage of this we need to be sure that we are using the wording and layouts that can really drive new followers and potential purchasers.

 

So here are 3 easy steps to make sure you are reaching all those DIY folks!

1) Create a Board
it could be a “Stampin’ How-tos”, “CardMaking How-tos”, “Rubberstamping How-tos”. Remember to use the words that you would type in when searching.

2) Create a Board Description
“stamping tips, paper crafting tutorials and creative ideas from Lisa Pretto, Stampin’Up! Demonstrator and fan of Clean and Simple Creations"

3) Generate Content
There are 3 great place to find content:

Stampin’Up! Youtube channel has great videos to pin to this board

Tutorials created by demonstrators outside your country. You are doing them the favor of sharing their content, and since your customs can’t purchase from them, it is a great way to inform and inspire without fear of losing a sale

YOUR content. Challenge yourself to create a video or pictorial tutorial/how to once a week.

People who love to DIY are always looking for inspiration. We need to reach out to those who are passionate “how-to’ers” and let them know of what we have to offer.

 

This would make a great weekend project, and I challenge you to make it happen!
