Welcome May!
For Stampin’Up! Demonstrators this is that glorious crazy month of pre order from the new catalog and wrap up of our retiring products….and it can make for some juggling as we decide what to share and focus on with our customers.
I’ve got a couple tips:
1) Sneak Peeks are FUN!
Everybody loves a little sneak peek! They are fun, build excitement and can help your customers build that wish list for June 1! I like to combine new InColors with current stamp sets or play new products with some of my current fabs.
By showcasing how well the new plays with what we already have it helps to build value for what is coming.
2) Focus on what customers can buy NOW
While sneak peeks build excitement, we all still needs sales in May. The majority of what I share will be current product focused on helping them meet their crafting and creative needs of today. May and June are busy months with Mother’s Day, Graduations, End of the School Year, Weddings, Father’s Day and more.
Gift card holders, thank you notes, and Holiday specific stamping keeps my customers shopping and stamping NOW!
It is also the only time of the year where I offer a specific sale. It is my birthday month so I tie it into that and offer a discount. Now I’m not a big believer in discounts, but once a year during a relatively busy and slow time can help keep my customers engaged. I like to focus on the basics that I know won’t sell out: adhesives, envelopes and card stock.
3) Retired Items are Bonus
Our retired list, along with it’s discounts, is a great motivator for a lot of folks. The tricky part is that it is “while supplies last”. The key is to NOT plan events around the items that are retiring, Focus on our full price items, and let the Retiring List be an added bonus, kind of like a “do you want fries with that? "
I know this can be a challenging month with a lot going on in our Stamping world.
I hope these ideas can help keep it fun and profitable for you!!
