Ok, I know I have been guilty of it myself.
But I still hate when I ask someone how they are that the first answer I get back is , "I'm so busy!"
Somehow, somewhere we got the idea that being busy is a sign of popularity or success. That we should all strive for being busy.
Or maybe it has just become the acceptable word we use when we are feeling overwhelmed because we have taken on too much or not managed our time very well.
So the question that always comes to the top of my mind is: "if we are so busy, how come so little seems to get accomplished?"
So let's look at the difference between busy and my very fav word, productive.
How about this:
busy means we are active doing something
productive means we are accomplishing something of importance
And we have all had those days when we feel like we have been working all day and accomplished so very little. I don't know about you, but I hate those days
And in Direct Sales we all have team members and leaders who are "soooo busy", but their business doesn't really reflect someone who is accomplishing much.
They are busy making samples, hostess packets, planning their events, tracking their income and costs....but they aren't seeing any real growth in their business. What are they doing of importance?
And you hear them say:
"oh, if I can just make my minimums I will be happy"
OR "I'm not really looking to make money at this"
But yet they are spending tons of time and money and energy on something they don't really care if they get much back from?
That just doesn't make sense to me.
And you know what I really think? I think they are comfortable being busy with no return. And they are a little scared of of owning the success and/or failure that might come from owning the desire to accomplish more in their business. To stand up and want to make a difference.
So where are you in this?
Where is your business?
Do you see where being more productive and less busy would generate a better and more profitable direct sales business?
More importantly, do you see where being more productive, accomplishing things that make a difference in your life and the lives of your customers and downline would give you a greater sense of purpose?
Are you interested in stepping up, standing tall and saying "I want more from my business and I am going to do what it takes to be productive and accomplish my goals"?
