Hi Y'all! So what have I been up to this weekend? I did make a card- and I will get to it in just a moment...BUT first, a little bit of crowing if you don't mind! I learned some new skills yesterday! One: how to tear open the interior (and a few of the exterior bits too) of a Jeep. (not to worry though, it belongs to me!)
Two: how to solder! It is really not that hard once someone sweet and patient (XO's to the DH) shows you the ropes! Why was I doing these things? We installed a CB radio, antenna and remote speaker and microphone into the Jeep! Whoo hoo! We are now ready for some serious off roading! The hardest part of the installation for the DH was my abhorrence of visible wires! I want all the cool tech but unfortunately they have yet to invent wireless power! So everything had to be hidden away where it can be used but not seen. Ha, you try living with me- he can be saintly at times, believe me!
So, anyway, thanks for being patient with me... on to the card!
I started off with this great sketch by Truly Scrumptious- it really shows how a few layers can go a long way! The colors are from Diva Coffee Break and are not my usual cup of tea! Rose Red, River Rock, Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy. The bonus was to add in a knot somewhere-check my bat out! He has that spider all tied up!
What do you think? Not your typical color choice for this look, eh? The Split Coast Stampers, Free 4 All challenge was to use birds and one color that is not on my favorites list. For starters, the only bird stamp I had available today was the owl from Dark & Dreary. The others are out on loan currently. So that led me down the Halloween road. The color River Rock certainly fits the "not me" description, as I cannot remember when I have ever used that color! I must have at some point, but when? Got me!
Just to make it especially difficult I chose to add in the Aud Sentiments challenge of using the greeting of Best Wishes. So there went the Halloween theme. Who do you give a card like this too? How about a great group of people who are into designing, building and acting in amazing Haunted Houses? My DH is part of just such a group! They do a haunted house at Lambeau Field for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers organization goes all out each Halloween season to transform their concourse into a free weekend of activities as a thank you to the surrounding community. The haunted house is the key reason to attend for the 13 and up crowd- eagerly anticipated by those who love to be scared! So I think I will send a basket of home baked goodies for the crew with this card attached!
We will be back to the regular schedule now that we have had our last official summer fling- see you tomorrow and remember,
Keep on Inking!
Katt
I loved reading your post! Too funny about the wires, I'm the same way - everthing would be wireless if I had my way, can't stand the clutter.
You have so many interesting elements to your card. The glitter sets off the matting and the highlighting of the embossing really adds to your card.
I especially like how you attached the bat to the sentiment, clever!
Thanks for playing along with us at Aud Sentiments!
