Since I was home yesterday, I popped on over to the Mojo Monday site to see what they had in store for us... and...um, wow, okay, I think I can do this... after all it is supposed to be a challenge right?

The sketch is not really my style but I really enjoyed getting my head into this and I am quite pleased with the results! I had some help from the ladies at Playdate Cafe- their color challenge gave me a great base to start with- Dark Brown, Green and Beige. I love Early Espresso with Garden Green and Crumb Cake plays well with everyone so that was easy. Still needing some help I checked out the Sweet Stampin' Challenge and they suggested I use my favorite stamp. Well, I just used that set on Sunday (Lovely As a Tree) AND we just got in our sneak peek sets from SU's Holiday Mini.... this set is definitely my favorite New set- French Foliage- these leaves rock! There are six images in the set, three of which are leaves- :) This card uses just one of the leaves and two of the other "accent" images. The accent images were used to create my custom back ground paper. With all the fall birthdays I have coming up- not to mention Thanksgiving- this set will be well used!
That bow had me stuck for quite a while. There was so much going on in this sketch already I was just not sure how to add more! Finally I pulled out the new antique brads from the 2010 SU! catalog and made a faux bow (this works with another challenge I played with today-see below!) I simply adhered two pieces of ribbon behind my oval and then "captured" a bow with the brad before attaching it to the card.
The last challenge I snuck in is from the Corrosive blog- Faux techniques- they left it pretty open- as long as it was fake it was good to go! An unusual concept, unless you live in the stamper's world! My technique is Faux Cracked Glass- and to get this coloring on my leaf I first sponged Garden Green and So Saffron ink onto vanilla card stock- rather randomly, leaving a bit of the vanilla peeking through. I then stamped my leaf using Early Espresso ink. After several coats of clear embossing powder away to the freezer my card stock went. After a tutorial on my son's newest video game- (Scribblenauts- anyone know of it? if you have a middle schooler its a great little game) I grabbed my card stock and started bending and cracking the now hard embossed areas. I trimmed out the leaf and popped it on my card front with a dimensional. A little stamped "Thanks"- (from the set Perfect Punches) and I was done.
Have a great week everyone! yesterday we went caving- who knows where today will take us!
Keep On Inking!
